Gingerbread House Contest 2008
A couple of weeks ago Jordana and I joined some hometown friends Erica and Kevin, Julie and Joe, Marcie, and Megan at Saren and Randy's house for a Christmas party/Gingerbread House making contest. Saren was nice enough to bake fresh gingerbread slabs a la Martha Stewart, but due to a slight miscalculation we were a few pieces short. This may have been a problem for some, but for one team it was just an opportunity to prove their ingenuity!
As you can see, this first house is not your typical A-frame structure, but more of a gingerbread "cottage".

And that's a stack of firewood behind the house.

Erica and Julie's house collapsed time and time again, ultimately not making it to the final showing.

Marcie and Megan went with more of a tropical theme.

It should be noted that Saren put her structure together ahead of time, allowing her to decorate an already solid structure. A breach of the rules of competition if you ask us!
Tastefully done, nonetheless.

The final table. You decide the winner. Just keep in mind the resourcefulness of some!
